program note
Collected Visions III is an installation made in collaboration with photographer Lorie Novak. It uses family snapshots drawn from the Collected Visions archive of photos to question how photographs shape our memories.  It was first shown at the International Center of Photography in NYC in November, 2000.

Collected Visions I, the first collaboration between Brown and Novak, was part of the inaugural show of the Smithsonian’s African American Museum Project in 1993, after opening at the Houston Center for Photography.
