program note
I wrote the Nanotudes in winter 2013, as a respite from working on a longer and more serious quartet (Just Visible in the Distance) for the Momenta Quartet. I often cook for the quartet, and we’ve laughed our way through quite a few meals. I hope these tiny pieces convey some of the silliness, as well as the beauty, of collaborating with these wonderful musicians.
